A friend of the GLB recently contacted me and asked that we help spread the word about the Metro Atlanta Lacrosse Association and their new website. MAYLA is an organization that has united the metro youth lax scene and will oversee season and championship play for both boys and girls youth teams at several different levels. You can view their brand new site by clicking HERE, and a permanent link will be added to our new spot for additional lax links. Please check the site if you are involved with youth lax or want to find out about our future GA laxers.
Here's some more info on MAYLA reprinted with permission from their website:
The Metro Atlanta Lacrosse Association (MAYLA) is a non-profit organization and the local chapter of US Lacrosse -- a 501(c)(3) based in Baltimore that serves as the national governing body for the sport. MAYLA supports and promotes the game of lacrosse at all levels in its chapter area, which includes the Northern Georgia and Metro Atlanta Area. MAYLA works closely with the Georgia Lacrosse Foundation to maintain the Georgia Lacrosse Hall of Fame, which honors the great players, coaches, officials, promoters and others, both men and women, who have made significant contributions to the game in Georgia. These great men and women are deserving of the highest recognition.
MAYLA was formed in 2009 as result of the merger of the Georgia Youth Lacrosse Association and the Georgia Middle School Lacrosse League.
The Mission of Metro Atlanta Youth Lacrosse Association (MAYLA) is to:
A) development of the game of lacrosse in the Metro Atlanta Area
B) development of new and existing programs in the Metro Atlanta Area
C) development of players, coaches and referees in the Metro Atlanta Area
D) overall promotion of US Lacrosse membership and goodwill in the Metro Atlanta Area.
E) overall promotion of Positive Coaching Alliance's Double Goal Coaching Certification process.
